Holy Hoeckel, we're in love. Born and raised in Baltimore, young artist Beth Hoeckel is a real 'clever clogs' and uses archive images and mixed media to create surreal collages. For the non-Brits among you - clever clogs is one of those things we say on this side of the pond - it means someone ostentatiously clever.Taking her inspiration from mountains, moons, and all the wonders of the natural world, Beth situates people in environments where (in the normal realm of reason), they just couldn't be. But we're in Hoeckel territory now, so anything is possible...We just love Beth's quirky style, and humorous reinvention of old forgotten photographs. The pieces she creates are imaginative little dreamlands that wouldn't look out of place on a moodboard for 'The Man Who Fell to Earth', and that suits us just fine. Now everyone, get your scissors and glue out and start cutting and pasting. If Beth Hoeckel's work is any indication, anything is possible.
