For us, there’s no better place to satisfy a sugar craving in New York than at Mast Brothers Chocolate. Walking down 3rd in Brooklyn, the smell of rich dark chocolate and old-timey bluegrass draws you into the rustic factory. Run by Mark and Rick Mast, two bearded brothers from Iowa, Mast Brothers produces handmade chocolate, beautifully wrapped in gift-paper designed by the Mast’s. The brothers’ mission is to limit their participation in industrialized food, focusing on organic ingredients and direct trade with small, private producers. These brothers are serious about their craft, and the product is seriously delicious. Our favorites include the Maine sea salt, pecan and maple, and vanilla and smoke chocolate bars.
